Refocus That Please - by Mike Griffith

This month's meeting is the 2nd Friday of the month -- March 14th !

We will show the PSA Traveling Exhibit. This is a compilation of some of that club's best views, and as always, contains some remarkable stereo photos.  It's well worth seeing. Again, we meet at the Briarcliff Baptist Church. Get off I-85 at Clairmont and turn right on Briarcliff Road. The Church is on your left.  Park near the entrance that says "OFFICE".  Walk all the way down the hall to the room marked "PAL".  (I guess we need to consider we were lucky it wasn't on the 7th as all of downtown is one massive parking lot.)

Jim Messenger has the refreshments for March. (We have no one signed up for April or May, so if you want to take your turn please let Larry know.  I will not be at the March meeting, as I am attending the "Image-Only-Show" in Washington, DC.  I'm hoping to find some great goodies, but I'll settle for a Lincoln or two…)

Last Month's meeting was our Viewmaster night and we had some neat views to project. It always amazes me on what's out there that few of us are aware of.

Today I found a highly interesting photo (unfortunately not in stereo). It shows a very early steam tractor that this advertising picture calls a "Road Locomotive", pulling/moving a building on wheels. The building sells Pianos & Organs (I guess, implying that they are in the building, and the tractor can pull this entire load).  And just for a small bonus, there appears to be a Civil War soldier in the view.  The photo is mounted on a card advertising "The Peerless Traction Engine".  The building sign says New Jersey and the photographer is from Pa. Surely they don't mean to imply that it went that distance… I'll bring it in April.

Ya'll have a great meeting. See you next month!!
